Lumber Yard Worker Ashland ME FT/Days or FT/Nights Temp-to-Hire Opportunity
Job Description: Now hiring Lumber Yard Workers to join the clean-up team for a well-established industrial facility in Ashland. Prior experience is helpful but not required. Full-Time/Days; 5:00 AM - 5:00 PM or FT/Nights; 5:00 PM - 5:00 AM; 4 days/week. $21.93/hr. with a $2.00/hr. differential for night shifts.
Lumber Yard Workers are responsible for handling raw materials and finished lumber products in preparation for storage and shipment as well as keeping work areas in and around the mill clean and organized. This role involves both manual labor and equipment operation with opportunities to learn new skills. Applicants must be able to communicate effectively and follow all safety policies and procedures while working as part of a team.
Responsibilities:
- Handle sort and stack rough-cut lumber by dimension species and grade.
- Ensure lumber is neatly and accurately placed in the designated areas.
- Safely band tag and prepare products for shipping or storage.
- Load and unload lumber from conveyors and storage racks.
- Assist equipment operators by staging materials or directing movement as needed.
- Use shovels brooms and other tools to maintain a clean safe work area.
- Operate forklifts stackers or other yard equipment (training provided).
- Monitor product quality and report damaged or defective materials.
- Follow all lockout/tagout and personal protective equipment requirements.
- Assist in additional production or yard tasks as assigned.
Job Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent education required.
- Previous manufacturing or industrial experience preferred but not required.
- Strong communication skills; able to follow written and verbal instructions.
- Ability to stand for long periods and repeatedly lift/move up to 50 lbs.
- Willingness to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Reliable attendance and a positive team-oriented work ethic.
