We are seeking expressions of interest to temporarily backfill the Team Leader - Payroll position from the 20th of December to 26th of February 2027.
What youll be doing:
- Oversee the payroll officer team; providing leadership expert advice and coordination of the delivery of a full complement of Payroll services including payroll processing reporting interpretation and application of Councils Enterprise Agreement and compliance with legislative requirements.
- Lead a team whose purpose is to focus on the delivery of best practice payroll processes and management of payroll risk for Council while ensuring an exceptional customer experience.
- Maintain a team culture which is focused on employee wellbeing customer service and continuous improvement.
- Contribute to the department operating as one accessible and approachable team that enables influences and empowers our organisation to be resilient and adaptable in an ever-changing environment; and
- Support the Coordinator Payroll and the Manager People & Culture to deliver on the actions of the relevant internal management plans and the People Strategy.
The skills and experience youll bring to the role:
- Good understanding of the organisations structure and ability to liaise effectively with teams and stakeholders
- Experience in risk management or data/administration
- Strong organisational communication and multitasking skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (such as word and excel) and council systems such as TRIM
- Attention to detail and ability to work independently and collaboratively
