Division: The Community Group Homes Department at the Eastern Louisiana Mental Health System
The mission of ELMHS is to provide mental health evaluation treatment habilitation and consultation for adults. Programs provided include inpatient interventions jail based evaluations supervised group home and residential programs forensic evaluation care custody and aftercare; intermediate and long-term psychiatric are a coordination with the total system of care in Louisiana.
ELMHS is looking for a Residential Services Specialist for this unique overnight leadership position who will provide supervision to staff members while supporting residents in their daily routines and will help them to build the skills needed to successfully transition back into the community. ELMHS is also looking for someone who will combine learned skills in supervision communication and de-escalation to help manage staff promote safety and maintain a therapeutic environment for residents in our community homes.
Minimum Qualifications
Three years of training or experience in providing behavioral health or developmentally disabled services or psychiatric patient care; OR
Thirty-six semester hours in education psychology counseling social work sociology child guidance or nursing.

Job Duties and Other Information
Job Duties:
- Supervises subordinate Residential Services Specialists (RSS) staff to ensure the safety health and well-being of sixteen (16) residents and provide supervisory oversight for training activities that are conducted on 3 Community Homes (CH) for each 12-hour shift. Supervise other staff on a shift as needed (job coach).
- Foster staff development to provide high quality programming to help each individual be as independent as possible.
- Performs and supervises duties as a CMA.
- Attend morning reports meetings daily.
- Direct and assign staff and clients to weekly grocery shopping check in groceries after they have been purchased.
- Participate in education trainings that are mandatory for accreditation and licensure of the facility.
Position-Specific Details:
Appointment Type: The position may be filled as a Probational Appointment (open to all qualified applicants); a promotion (open to all statewide classified and agency-wide permanent status employees); or Current permanent status classified employees may be required to accept a Probational appointment if selected.
Compensation: Special Entrance Rate (SER) FULL-TIME: Residential Services Specialist 5- $1458.40/Bi-Weekly; $18.23/Hourly.Specialty Pays: Various premium pay also available for each hour worked for full-time employees.
