Special Education teachers at Abington High School provide services to students with Individualized Education Plans who have a range of moderate disabilities. The Special Education teacher leads the IEP team to develop data driven student learning and behavioral goals. The Special Education teacher is responsible for developing curriculum and program strategies consistent with the students learning level and to continually assess student progress towards IEP goals. Teaching environments include learning centers and candidates will:Demonstrate an unwavering commitment to educational equity and instructional excellenceProvide a safe inclusive and welcoming learning environment for all learnersCreate lesson plans aligned with current state and district standards which drive instruction through formative assessment and differentiationProvide consistent immediate feedback on student learning and ask analytical questions that elicit student responses that incorporate prior knowledge life experience and interests that are directly related to the content objectiveDemonstrate an ability to administer and analyze appropriate testing protocols; develop and implement meaningful IEPs and skillfully manage IEPs with colleagues and administration in analyzing data to positively impact student learningEngage in reflective practice in concert with supervisor and team aligned to the instructional focus of the schoolCommunicate effectively with students families colleagues and administrators
