Histotechnologist Lead Job Responsibilities:
- Evaluates assesses and adapts procedures to handle problems in frozen section technique to ensure timely and consistent preparations suitable for rapid diagnosis or immunofluorescence procedures.
- Assists with FNA bone marrow specimen collection and slide preparation.
- Evaluates correlates and ensures accuracy/validity of laboratory information.
- Tests and validates tissue to be used as positive control for special procedures.
- Determines the correct mold size for the specimen being embedded while accurately identifying/orienting the specimen.
- Develops user friendly instructional material/guidelines to train existing and new personnel. Implements budgetary measures and cost effectiveness in laboratory operations.
- Participates in the introduction investigation and implementation of new procedures and the evaluation of new instruments to improve laboratory efficiency.
- Processes specimens in appropriate fixatives or decalcification agents such as molecular biology procedures according to established procedures.
- May perform additional duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
Education: AS or BS degree from a regionally accredited college/university with 24 science credits that include a combination of 12 semester hours of biology and chemistry (in any combination).
Experience: 4 years with combined bench and/or 1 year of histology lead/management experience.
Certification: Histotechnologist (HTL ASCP) or Histotechnician (HT) upon start
