Job Title: Medical Assistant (Contract)
Location: New York NY 10029
Assignment Length: 60 Days
Schedule: MondayFriday (No weekends or holidays)
Shift Options: 7:00 AM3:00 PM or 12:00 PM8:00 PM
Work Setting: General Office/Clinical Environment
Position Summary
The Medical Assistant will work as an essential member of a multidisciplinary care team providing clinical and administrative support to ensure high-quality efficient patient care. The role requires direct patient interaction technical clinical skills and strong organizational abilities.
Key Responsibilities
Perform clinical support tasks including taking vital signs venipuncture EKGs assisting with examinations procedures and room preparation.
Assist patients with mobility dressing and specimen collection as needed.
Support providers during clinical procedures and communicate care instructions to patients and caregivers.
Manage administrative responsibilities such as patient chart updates form completion retrieving lab or imaging results and maintaining medical records.
Enter prescription refills and orders in the electronic medical record (EMR) system for provider review.
Maintain exam room cleanliness and ensure adequate inventory of clinical supplies.
Sterilize instruments and adhere to proper infection control and safety procedures.
Maintain logs for medications sterilization refrigeration and emergency equipment.
Assist with pre-admission processes procedure scheduling and consent documentation.
Perform phlebotomy and point-of-care testing when required.
Handle patient scheduling registration insurance verification and pre-certification.
Support accurate billing processes and complete additional job-related duties as assigned.
Required Skills & Competencies
Proficiency with basic computer applications (MS Office Suite)
Familiarity with medical terminology and HIPAA standards
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Excellent customer service and phone etiquette
Experience with EMR systems preferred
Ability to adapt to changing priorities in a fast-paced clinical setting
Ability to work respectfully with diverse patient populations
Education & Certification Requirements
High School Diploma or GED required
Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant training program required
BLS certification through the American Heart Association required
Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) preferred
