Petco is a category-defining health and wellness company focused on improving the lives of pets pet parents and Petco partners. We are 29000 strong and operate 1500 pet care centers in the U.S. Mexico and Puerto Rico including 250 Vetco Total Care hospitals hundreds of preventive care clinics and eight distribution centers. 100% remote position reporting to: 654 Richland Hills Drive San Antonio TX 78245

Summary of Duties: Create algorithms that drive company pricing and promotion strategies and engines. Build and iterate algorithms and platforms for pricing and promotions strategies. Prototype test deploy and measure new pricing and promotions models and partner with data engineering teams to automate and productionize systems. Apply econometric statistical models and machine learning to explain and predict business impacts of pricing and promotions decisions. Design execute and assess pricing and promotion experiments to drive both top and bottom line returns. Utilize and continually learn latest modeling techniques to identify optimal price and promotions including Bayesian optimization surrogate modeling causal inference and others.

Qualifications: Masters degree or equivalent in Computer Science Operations Research Mathematics Statistics Economics or related field of study and 3 years of experience working with econometrics statistical modeling or machine learning methods on real world problems or equivalent experience building data science products. Employer will accept a Bachelors degree or equivalent in Computer Science Operations Research Mathematics Statistics Economics or related field of study and 5 years of progressive experience working with econometrics statistical modeling or machine learning methods on real world problems or equivalent experience building data science products in lieu of a Masters degree or equivalent and 3 years of experience.

Applicants must have demonstrated experience with the following:

3 years of experience with consumer pricing concepts such as price elasticity price optimization demand forecasting or consumer segmentation;
building models in Python using causal inference predictive modeling time series forecasting optimization econometrics or statistics to optimize decision-making;
analyzing enterprise-level multi-dimensional data sets stored in Google Big Query Snowflake Amazon Redshift or similar enterprise database with tools including Python and SQL;
deploying machine learning algorithms using AWS GCP Airflow Terraform or Docker; and
presenting analytical methodology and results to non-technical audiences.

Any and all experience may be gained concurrently.
