Dental Hygienist - Part Time Summary: Under the supervision of the Practice Manager the Dental Hygienist provides preventive and therapeutic dental hygiene care and patient education in accordance with ODHS standards state regulations and FQHC compliance requirements. The hygienist promotes oral health disease prevention and patient-centered care in a collaborative team-based environment. Part-time hygienists typically work 24 hours per week and are expected to collaborate closely with the hygiene team to provide coverage during PTO demonstrating flexibility to support patient continuity of care and the efficient operation of the clinic.

- Educates patients on oral hygiene oral cancer periodontal disease diet and smoking cessation.
- Vision ODHS preferred partner in East Central Indiana for improving the well-being of individuals and the communities in which they live:
- Performs routine and difficult prophylaxis procedures scaling and root planing and fluoride applications in accordance with ADA and ODHS clinical protocols.
- Obtains complete dental and medical histories and ensures accurate up-to-date documentation in patient records.
- Takes and updates digital radiographs as needed in accordance with ODHS clinical protocols.
- Prepares patients for dental examinations and assists the dentist as needed.
- Reviews treatment plans records clinical findings and supports continuity of care through timely follow-up and recalls.
- Assists other team members as needed to maintain efficient clinic operations demonstrating flexibility and support for team needs beyond hygiene responsibilities.
- Adapts to department standards and best practices to promote consistency in patient care and teamwork.
- Stays current on evidence-based practices and integrates new techniques into daily care.

Physical and Environmental Requirements:
- Frequent exposure to communicable diseases toxic substances medicinal preparations and other conditions common to clinic environment. Tasks involve contact with blood or body substances.
- Requires standing walking or sitting for long periods of time. Occasional bending stretching or lifting up to 40 pounds.
- Requires the ability to work under stressful situations.
- Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range or use of approved adaptive equipment.
