Capital One Legal is seeking a motivated litigation attorney to join the Litigation & Employment Team. This team: (A) defends Capital One in court and pursues offensive litigation where appropriate; (B) handles privileged internal investigations; (C) responds to government inquiries escalated subpoenas and enforcement actions; and (D) provides employment and several other forms of advice across the enterprise. The successful candidate will manage a portfolio that would include one or more categories above and could relate to a specific Capital One business line.
Job Responsibilities:
Manage litigation matters pre-litigation demands provide legal advice and handle internal investigations
Hire and oversee outside litigation counsel
Work as a team with other attorneys and legal professionals
Potential to perform a wide variety of attorney tasks
Understand customer needs and provide appropriate solutions to achieve desired outcome
Build relationships and collaborate with key stakeholders
Ensure project deliverables and timelines are met
Basic Qualifications:
Juris Doctor from an accredited law school
Active member in good standing of at least one state bar
At least 4 years of experience as an attorney in a law firm at a government agency as a military judge advocate or as in-house counsel
Preferred Qualifications:
5 years of experience as an attorney in a law firm in-house legal department and/or government agency.
Experience in the financial services industry
Significant class action and/or government investigation experience
Federal court or state appellate court clerkship
Ability to work in a dynamic environment and flexibility to adapt to changing needs
Ability and desire to learn new areas of law
Ability and willingness to work as a team player
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Strong analytical and organizational skills

This role is hybrid meaning associates spend 3 days per week in-person at one of our offices listed on this job posting. Fridays are enterprise wide virtual work days. Monday Tuesday Wednesday and Thursday are options for in-person days for associates to spend time together working in our beautifully-designed team areas.
The minimum and maximum full-time annual salaries for this role are listed below by location. Please note that this salary information is solely for candidates hired to perform work within one of these locations and refers to the amount Capital One is willing to pay at the time of this posting. Salaries for part-time roles will be prorated based upon the agreed upon number of hours to be regularly worked.
McLean VA: $193000 - $220300 for Sr. Manager Sr. CounselCandidates hired to work in other locations will be subject to the pay range associated with that location and the actual annualized salary amount offered to any candidate at the time of hire will be reflected solely in the candidates offer letter.
This role is also eligible to earn performance based incentive compensation which may include cash bonus(es) and/or long term incentives (LTI).
