- High school diploma or GED.
- AHA BLS healthcare provider certification required within 90 days from DOH
- General knowledge of high school subject matter including sciences simple medical procedures / terminology and office equipment.

- Assists in the delivery of patient care by performing specific patient care tasks per scope of service and as directed by the Registered Nurse.
- Assists with admissions transfers discharges and transport of patients.
- Obtains and records Temperature Pulse Respirations Blood Pressure Oxygen saturation weights and Blood Glucose testing. Reports abnormalities and condition changes to primary nurse promptly.
- Demonstrates competence in advanced skills to include but not limited to: oral suctioning enemas (no Fleets enemas) clean dressings after a RN assessment tube feeding set-up external catheter (condom catheter) post-mortem care and suction canister set-up.
- Communicates effectively and frequently with health care team members to share information and solve problems in a positive and result-oriented manner both verbally and electronically.
- Documents legibly on all hospital forms using standardized abbreviations.
- Gets patient report from the RN and off-going PCT at the beginning of the shift. Gives end-of-shift report to the primary nurse and oncoming PCT at the end of the shift.
- Participates in walking rounds with the oncoming and off goingPCT at shift change
- Provides personalized care to patients and families. Identifies and documents special needs on the patient rounding sheet.
- Utilizes available educational materials programs nursing literature and resource personnel for career development and attends mandatory in-services to maintain unit competencies.
- Utilizes material equipment and time in a safe therapeutic and cost effective manner.
- Assists with appropriate tasks in all code situations (i.e. CPR obtaining equipment etc.) under the direction of the Code Blue Team.
- Adheres to Organizational infection control practices and policies and to established safety and security policies including using two (2) identifiers whenever taking blood samples or performing any procedure.
- Assists with maintaining the general cleanliness and appearance of areas on the unit including but not limited to:
- Cleans treatment rooms showers commodes and IV poles after use.
- Cleans kitchens (refrigerators ice machines sinks counters) as assigned.
- Cleans counters and empties trash in nursing station as requested.
- Cleans other areas such as storage areas linen rooms staff lounge as requested.
- Cleans restocks and maintains patient care supplies.
- Maintain and Model REACH Values (Respect Excellence Accountability Compassion Honor).
- Demonstrates regular reliable and predictable attendance.
- Performs other duties as required.
