Job Summary

Description

Enphase Energy is a global energy technology company and a leading provider of solar battery and electric vehicle charging products. Founded in 2006 our innovative microinverter technology revolutionized solar power making it a safer more reliable and scalable energy source. Today the Enphase Energy System enables users to make use save and sell their own power. Enphase is also one of the most successful and innovative clean energy companies in the world with more than 80 million products shipped across 160 countries.

Are you fascinated by high frequency magnetic materials and component design for power conversion This role offers a unique opportunity to turn that passion into impact by designing analyzing and validating ferrite-based high-frequency magnetic components for advanced power conversion.
About the role
As a Magnetics Design Engineer youll work closely with senior engineers to develop advanced models for ferrite-based magnetics while spending significant time in the lab performing hands-on measurements and experiments. Youll design and build test fixtures cut ferrite samples measure impedance and core losses and validate winding resistance and component performance against predictive models. Youll also collaborate with ferrite vendors and develop custom test fixtures to deploy innovative new test approaches.
This position is part of an advanced R&D team within the CTO Office and reports directly to the Sr. Director of Inverter Technology. Its an ideal role for a recent Masters graduate who is deeply interested in magnetic materials and eager to combine analytical skills with hands-on experimentation.

What you will do

  • Design and validate ferrite-based magnetic components for advanced power conversion including inductors matrix transformers and integrated magnetics.
  • Perform hands-on lab work: impedance and core loss measurements winding resistance checks and component assembly.
  • Develop and refine custom test fixtures including PCB-based measurement systems using KiCAD.
  • Cut ferrite samples prepare winding structures and execute precision measurements to validate material and component performance.
  • Collaborate with senior engineers on magnetics modeling and simulation workflows.
  • Work with ferrite vendors to evaluate material properties and integrate new materials into designs.
  • Compare experimental results with predictive models and contribute to improving model accuracy.
Who you are and what you bring
  • Masters degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field with a focus on magnetics or power electronics.
  • Strong interest in high-frequency ferrite materials and magnetic component design (inductors matrix transformers integrated magnetics).
  • Familiarity with a range of magnetic materials including ferrites (MnZn NiZn) powdered iron (MPP KoolMµ XFlux) nanocrystalline alloys (e.g. FINEMET Vitroperm) amorphous metals (Metglas) and silicon steel laminations.
  • Understanding of dimensional effects in magnetic cores such as dimensional resonance and eddy current losses.
  • Knowledge of advanced core loss modeling techniques including iGSE and emerging machine learning approaches from programs like Princeton MaGNET.
  • Hands-on experience with lab measurements (impedance core loss winding resistance) and test equipment.
  • Familiarity with PCB design tools (KiCAD preferred) for building custom test fixtures.
  • Basic understanding of power electronics fundamentals; exposure to resonant converter topologies is a plus.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced R&D environment with significant hands-on experimentation.
  • Excellent attention to detail and a passion for bridging theory with practical validation.
Join our dynamic teams designing and developing next-gen energy technologies and help drive a sustainable future!

The base pay range for this position is $95000 to $145800 per year. This salary range may be modified in the future. The successful candidates starting pay will be determined based on job-related skills experience education or training work location and market conditions. This position is also eligible for bonus equity and benefits.
