Program Summary

The Marine Corps Prepositioning Program (MCPP) is based in Jacksonville Florida. We provide maintenance and logistic services to the U.S. Marine Corps (USMC) in support of this program. For over 35 years we have planned coordinated and executed the maintenance and logistic services for ground combat vehicles and support equipment for USMC Expeditionary Forces.

Job Summary

Supervises and coordinates the activities of employees who are performing a wide variety of mechanical duties on artillery weapons and a variety of combustion powered light and heavy-duty vehicles (i.e. light armored amphibious assault tracked vehicles HMMWV JLTV utility trailers exc.) designed for combat ship loading or other special applications.

Responsibilities

  • Oversees the activities of workers engaged in servicing storing and repairing artillery weapons & sights and workers engaged in servicing and repairing LAV AAV JLTV HMMWV & Trailers.
  • Determines sequence and assignment of work on basis of work priority and quantity to obtain optimal use of equipment facilities and personnel and supporting tools and special test equipment.
  • Responsible for equipment readiness maintenance shop organizations control of maintenance assets and providing advice on all matters relating to ordnance and MT type maintenance.
  • Ensures mechanics are properly trained in all maintenance functions.
  • Keeps inventory of repair parts and equipment and requisitions replacement stock.
  • Inspects work performed to ensure compliance with specifications and time schedules.
  • Interprets specifications drawings work orders technical instructions and layouts.
  • Coordinates department activities with other departments.
  • Ensures compliance with administrative policies procedures and governmental regulations.
  • Ensures employees adhere to all safety requirements procedures and policies.
  • Supervise and manage the administration of workspace for ordnance and MT type equipment repair.
  • Recommends changes to procedures as appropriate.
  • Recommends or initiates personnel actions such as promotions transfers discharges and disciplinary actions.
  • Trains new workers.
  • Complies with and ensures compliance with all MPF ISO-9002 policies and procedures.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Basic Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • 5 years of experience in ordnance ground vehicle or heavy equipment maintenance including handson experience with systems such as artillery weapons & sights LAV AAV ACV JLTV HMMWV and trailers.
  • 3 years of supervisory or teamlead experience in a maintenance mechanical or military/defense environment.
  • Prior experience managing maintenance shop operations workflow coordination and equipment readiness programs strongly preferred.
  • Ability to interpret and apply technical manuals specifications engineering drawings work orders and layouts.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead supervise train and evaluate mechanics and maintenance personnel.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills for interpreting instructions documenting work and coordinating with other departments.
  • Thorough working knowledge of the mechanical makeup operation and working relationships of heavy-duty systems assemblies and parts including major systems as diesel multifuel supercharged/turbocharged engines turbine engines automatic/manual transmissions and gear reductions systems.
  • Working knowledgeable of electrical electronic hydraulic pneumatic and other non-mechanical systems which have a functional relationship and effect on the operation of mechanical systems.

Preferred Qualifications

  • MOS code () in Ordnance or MT MOS code () for a minimum of 5 years and complete the ordnance or MT maintenance course.
  • Associate or bachelors degree in mechanical engineering logistics or a related technical field preferred.
  • Experience working within ISO9002 or similar qualitymanagement systems is beneficial.
