WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING:

As a CJIS Administrator-2 you will play a crucial role in overseeing and enhancing critical programs that impact our community.

OUR ORGANIZATION MISSION AND CULTURE:

The CJIS Administrator 2 provides statewide leadership vision and strategic direction for the Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) Program within the Department of Public Safety. This role is critical to maintaining the integrity security and efficiency of Alaskas criminal history records fingerprint identification and justice information systemsdirectly supporting law enforcement and justice agencies statewide.

By overseeing these essential systems the CJIS Administrator 2 advances public safety ensures compliance with state and federal laws and enables effective data sharing policy development and operational excellence in alignment with the departments mission.

THE WORKING CONDITIONS YOU CAN EXPECT:

This position is based at the Department of Public Safety (DPS) Headquarters located at 5700 East Tudor Road in East Anchorage. The facility offers ample on-site parking and is directly served by public transportation. Scenic paved trails and views of the Chugach Mountains surround the building providing a pleasant work environment.

Your office is co-located with your Deputy CJIS Administrator and other members of the management team. Occasional out-of-state travel is required to attend national conferences.

Equivalent to those typically gained by:
Any combination of training and/or education in criminal justice justice programs political science planning business or public administration business management computer science or a closely related field; and/or progressively responsible professional experience which includes lead and/or supervisory experience in law law enforcement or adjudication corrections criminal justice planning adult or juvenile justice and/or crime prevention.

Special Note:
As part of the examination process an extensive background investigation including a criminal record check and fingerprinting for conviction of felony crimes or serious misdemeanors will be performed.

Training and education in this guidance are synonyms for the process of acquiring knowledge and skills through instruction. It includes instruction through formal and informal methods (such as classroom on-line self-study and on-the-job) from accredited and unaccredited sources and long-duration (such as a post-secondary degree) and short-duration (such as a seminar) programs.

BACKGROUND CHECK

This position requires the incumbent to submit to a fingerprint based criminal history background check. Due to the sensitive nature of this position and required access to APSIN an applicant with criminal convictions will not move forward in the selection process.
