Description
Performs working level duties in receiving stores and/or shipping functions. Stocks material/commodities in a neat orderly way; receives inspects and counts incoming material/commodities; rejects damaged items records shortages reviews and interprets accompanying documentation; maintains records of stock received/shipped; and/or moves materials/commodities between locations. Operates material handling forklift and packaging equipment.
Responsibilities
35-60% Performs general material handling/warehousing duties involving receiving storing inventory shipping and disbursing materials/commodities; pick orders and prepare pallets for shipment; process materials using postal manifest and meter equipment; load and unload trucks; operate various powered material handling equipment i.e. forklift and pallet jack; provide some lead direction to material handlers warehouse workers and volunteer works as assigned.
10-20% Review and interpret shipping documents verify quantifies inspect for damage determine country of origin and specific language code for international materials and prepared receiving and inventory records; record weight and dimension figures for new items in warehouse management system.
10-60% May drive small or medium-sized trucks to deliver and pick up materials/commodities from vendors; assist supervisor in ensuring vehicles are properly maintained licensed and operating safely; complete and submit logs and reports on vehicles as required.
5-10% Assists in maintaining equipment building grounds and keeps appropriate records as assigned; assist in loading 40 foot trailers for shipment or prepare pallets of assorted materials for worldwide shipping requiring special knowledge in order to balance the load to meet weight space and distribution requirements.
Qualifications
High school education or equivalent required; basic math and computer skills; experience operating motorized material handling equipment including forklifts preferred; must be able to become Church certified within 6 weeks of hire; excellent interpersonal and organizational skills; must be able to read and understand English; must be able to physically lift/move/push/pull items (up to 50 lbs alone or occasionally lift up to 100 lbs with two people) climb ladders stairs scaffolding and ramps to store/retrieve items and operate a pallet jack containing up to 2500 lbs.; excellent interpersonal organizational training and leadership skills.
