Job Summary
Job Purpose
The Network Engineer IV serves as a senior technical resource within the OnX Canada infrastructure addition to advanced troubleshooting repair and maintenance this role leads network design high-level architecture planning and complex project execution. The Engineer IV will serve as a subject matter expert mentor junior engineers and ensure customer networks operate at peak efficiency and security.
Essential Functions
- Lead complex network design configuration and implementation projects.
- Provide advanced troubleshooting and root cause analysis for critical issues.
- Oversee creation and maintenance of system documentation diagrams and operational procedures.
- Perform network capacity analysis and proactively plan upgrades or adjustments.
- Act as a technical escalation point for Network Engineers II and other team members.
- Participate in and lead on-call support rotations for critical incidents.
- Perform onsite work at customer locations and oversee vendor coordination.
- Please note that shift work may be required for this position
Education
- Bachelors degree in a related field or equivalent experience.
- Cisco CCNP (required) or CCIE certification strongly preferred.
- Network certification.
Experience/Background
- 10 years enterprise IT infrastructure networking experience.
- Proven experience in mission-critical 24x7 high availability environments.
- Mastery of troubleshooting tools such as ping traceroute nslookup dig Wireshark.
- Advanced understanding of IP subnetting and variable length subnet masks.
- Expertise with dynamic routing protocols (BGP OSPF EIGRP RIP) and longest-match qualifier concepts.
- Experience with Cisco Security Cloud and Cisco Secure Access is a plus
- Experience with Infoblox
- Advanced experience with wireless controllers and access points administration and troubleshooting.
- Extensive hands on experience in the configuration and management of Cisco ACI VxLAN EVPN Cisco Nexus Dashboard SD-Access SD-WAN
- Strong working knowledge of Cisco products and technologies such as Umbrella wireless Catalyst Center ISE (TACACS MAB Dot1x) SNA
- Experience with stateful and Next Generation Firewalls including Fortinet Palo Alto Cisco ASA and FTDFMC CheckPoint.
- Experience setting up Site-to-Site VPNs along with client VPNs
- Significant experience with hybrid or blended cloud/on-prem environments (AWS Azure).
Special Knowledge/Skills
- Ability to analysis and improve on existing systems and architectures.
- Able to function efficiently in a multi-task environment and work under pressure.
- Expert communication skills including the ability to document and demonstrate procedures and processes.
- A strong team playerstrong interpersonal and team building skills
- Other industry certifications (e.g. VMware Microsoft Certifications) definite assets.
- ITIL certification is preferred.
