How You Will Make an Impact

As a Customer Site Based Service Engineer within Unity Lab Services (ULS) you will be a key on-site technical resource supporting laboratory operations at a customer facility in Emeryville CA. This role combines hands-on technical expertise (70%) with administrative and operational support (30%) to ensure efficient equipment performance operational continuity and an outstanding customer experience.

You will provide triage maintenance and coordination for a range of scientific instrumentation while assisting with vendor coordination and continuous improvement initiatives across the site.

What You Will Do

Technical / Engineering Responsibilities (70%)

  • Serve as the first-line response for critical laboratory assets performing triage and initial diagnostics.

  • Conduct planned maintenance and calibrations on select instruments per schedule.

  • Support fixing and minor repair efforts for general lab equipment.

  • Perform independent corrective maintenance and minor repairs when parts are available.

  • Collaborate with ULS dispatch and supply teams to request receive and handle parts for repairs.

  • Act as the technical liaison and on-site contact for vendor and OEM service events.

  • Support root cause analysis for recurring equipment issues and participate in process improvements.

  • Document service activities outcomes and equipment status updates in compliance with ULS standards.

ULS Administrative & Site Support Duties (30%)

  • Escort and coordinate with external vendors and service providers while ensuring site protocol compliance.

  • Support asset lifecycle activities including tagging labeling commissioning and decommissioning.

  • Handle parts logistics including delivery coordination and inventory tracking.

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of service events equipment histories and parts usage.

  • Perform inventory audits data entry and assist with reporting.

  • Participate in multi-functional meetings providing updates on equipment and engineering task status.

How You Will Get Here

Education:

  • Bachelors degree in Engineering Life Sciences or a related technical field or equivalent experience.

Experience:

  • Minimum 5 years of technical or engineering experience including hands-on equipment maintenance and repair.

  • At least 3 years supporting biopharma life sciences or medical laboratory environments.

Knowledge Skills Abilities:

  • Strong maintenance and diagnostic capabilities for laboratory and technical equipment.

  • Proficiency with asset management and maintenance processes.

  • Outstanding communication documentation and customer service skills.

  • Ability to work independently prioritize and collaborate in multi-functional teams.

  • Familiarity with lab safety protocols and regulatory compliance environments.

Compensation and Benefits

The hourly pay range estimated for this position based in California is $43.70$58.27.
