Global Environmental Site Development Lead, AWS Environmental

To learn more about AWS visit and is looking for a talented and self-motivated Environmental Site Development Program Manager to support AWS globally. The successful candidate will join the AWS Environmental team an expanding and dynamic team that is critical to enabling AWSs growth around the world as well as ensuring regulatory compliance and highest-level environmental performance of AWSs data center global operations. The Environmental team has responsibility for managing Environmental requirements and risk from site selection through to decommissioning. This role requires a highly skilled professional to manage complex ambiguous audit initiatives across organizational boundaries.
The ideal candidate must lead site development program initiatives influence stakeholders and work independently while seeking guidance when needed. Strong strategic and tactical skills are essential including balancing short and long-term needs mitigating risks and delivering simplified solutions. Excellent communication skills are crucial with the ability to present to senior leadership and write strategic narratives. The role involves mentoring recruitment and process improvement. Key job responsibilities
Leadership and commitment. Ensure the Site Development program evolves to meet changing organizational needs stakeholder expectations and environmental challenges and securing necessary resources and support for continuous improvement.

Collaborate with wider environmental design and real estate teams to perform reviews and updates needed to ensure the site development program remains relevant and effective.

Risk management and planning. Support the ongoing identification and assessment of environmental risks identified through the site development program across AWS pre-operational phases from site selection through due diligence design and permitting. Develop and implement strategic plans to address significant environmental risks and opportunities setting ambitious yet achievable improvements.

Implementation and operation. Oversee the design and deployment of our Site Development program to enhance environmental performance to ensure compliance with legal and other requirements. Lead associated environmental development training and awareness programs to embed skills throughout the organization.

Performance evaluation. Establish and manage a robust system for monitoring measuring and reporting performance of the site development program. Conduct regular assessments of tools and processes being used by the environmental team collate and analyze data from site development stages to identify trends gaps and areas for improvement. Present performance reports and recommendations to top management.

Continual improvement. Drive the ongoing enhancement of the site development program leading management reviews implementing corrective and preventative actions and identifying innovative approaches to improve environmental performance.

- Experience developing and implementing environmental compliance programs including regulated waste water and air regulations in accordance with applicable laws
- 5 years experience serving as an environmental professional with solid regional or global environmental management or program experience in site development (due diligence design and permitting).

- Masters degree in science engineering or a related field
- Experience in regional and/or global Environmental Management Systems auditing site development and compliance management in cloud-based infrastructure companies preferred.
- 10 years in multinational company with focus on site development program development deployment implementation and verification.
- Excellent communication skills strong relationship builder solid influencing and negotiation skills and the ability to coach at multiple levels.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $125400/year in our lowest geographic market up to $239300/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge skills and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
