Role Overview

The Terminal Manager will manage and lead the day-to-day operations of our Northeastern terminal. The terminal operates 24 hours a day 7 days a week 365 days a year. This position ensures that terminal staff consistently provide exceptional customer service delivering products safely and on time. The Terminal Manager has full P&L responsibility and oversees hiring training safety compliance business development and customer retention.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure customers products are delivered on time and safely while maintaining consistent professional communication and exceptional customer service.
  • Manage the terminals profit and loss performance; implement strategies to improve profitability control costs and enhance processes.
  • Coordinate all operational activities to optimize personnel and equipment utilization.
  • Evaluate and refine internal processes to improve efficiency and reporting accuracy.
  • Maintain effective communication between company leadership drivers and staff regarding operational updates and delivery information.
  • Oversee driver and employee performance management including corrective actions counseling performance improvement plans and training.
  • Manage driver expectations to maximize productivity and revenue while ensuring home time accurate pay and retention.
  • Oversee operations maintenance and tank wash teams.
  • Review customer rates periodically to ensure competitiveness and profitability.
  • Promote strategic business growth customer and driver satisfaction and retention.
  • Train and retrain office staff and drivers on procedures and best practices.
  • Assist with recruiting hiring and onboarding new drivers and employees.
  • Select and hire the best-qualified candidates for open positions; collaborate with recruiting as needed.
  • Ensure payroll accuracy through precise dispatch execution.

Required Skills & Abilities

  • 5 years of proven leadership ability to motivate manage and develop teams.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills both written and verbal.
  • Ability to perform under pressure and adapt quickly in a fast-paced environment.
  • Customer service excellence with the ability to convey value and build trust.
  • Solid understanding of trucking operations including dispatch routing scheduling tracking and rate negotiation.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office; AS400 or Innovative system experience preferred.
  • Exceptional organizational skills attention to detail and ability to multitask effectively.
  • Strategic thinking combined with a hands-on management approach.

Qualifications

  • Previous terminal or business unit management experience required.
  • Trucking industry experience required; food-grade transportation experience preferred.
