Job Summary

The Lactation Consultant is responsible for providing safe family centered patient care by assessing planning implementing and evaluating lactation plans for the mother-infant breastfeeding dyad as well as for the pumping mother and is fully collaborative with the mother patient patients family significant others and members of the health care team. The Lactation Consultant demonstrates specialized knowledge and clinical expertise in breastfeeding and human lactation. As an integral member of the Health Care Team the Lactation Consultant functions within the Scope of Practice as defined by the International Board of Lactation Consultant Examiners (IBLCE) and follows Standards of Practice as defined by their professional association International Lactation Consultant Association and adheres to Seattle Childrens policies procedures and guidelines of care.

Required Education and Experience
Graduate of an accredited school of nursing OR Bachelors of Science in Nutrition or Clinical Dietetics OR a Bachelors Degree in occupational therapy from an accredited two years of clinical experience in a health care setting.

Required Credentials
Current Washington State nursing license OR current Washington State license to practice as an occupational therapist OR registration through the Commission on Dietetic Registration (RD) with certification with State of Washington within 4 months of hire (DI).Certification as an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) obtained within 12 BLS for Health Care Providers is to be maintained at all times by all lactation be obtained within 3 months of hire.

Preferred
BSN or higher nursing degree OR a Masters Degree in Nutrition Clinical Dietetics or Public Health with a nutrition emphasis OR a Masters Degree in Occupational as an health care in Maternal-Child Health of adult learning principles.

Compensation Range

$46.96 - $70.43 per hour

Salary Information

This compensation range was calculated based on full-time employment (2080 hours worked per calendar year). Offers are determined by multiple factors including equity skills experience and expertise and may vary within the range provided.
