Westwood Professional Services Inc.is seeking a NOISE CONTROL & ACOUSTICS INTERN to join our team in our ENGLEWOOD CO office. Westwood has a highly experienced and dynamic team dedicated to providing high-level professional services to our clients across the country for the development of land and renewable energy projects.
Assist with data processing interpretation and documentation primarily via spreadsheet analysis.
Conduct desktop noise modeling to support renewables energy transportation and land development projects.
Perform field measurements and coordinate equipment maintenance under senior staff supervision.
Prepare technical report/memo drafts to deliver results of analyses including clear complete and accurate data representations.
Carry out regulatory research (local noise ordinances general zoning policies etc.) to identify applicable noise regulations in different jurisdictions.
Collaborate with senior staff to determine effective and creative conceptual noise mitigation options.
Attend internal project meetings to observe project workflow.
Strong capabilities in data manipulation and analysis.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Hands-on knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
Basic understanding of acoustic concepts including noise level metrics and common environmental noise sources.
Ability to independently manage multiple assignments and work with limited direct supervision.
Interest in noise control and acoustics.
Pursuing (or possessing) a degree in acoustics physics mechanical engineering environmental engineering or related field.
Familiarity with renewable energy systems mechanical (HVAC) equipment or environmental policy.
Experience using CadnaA SoundPlan WindPro TNM 2.5 or other popular noise modeling software.
Working knowledge of Python or other coding experience.
Experience using sound level meters for field noise measurements.
