Job Summary

Our Community Rugby League team is looking for an outstanding individual to join us as an Officiating Support Coordinator.

From grassroots community clubs to the elite level youll champion the games impact across Queensland and help strengthen the network of match officials who make every game possible

What youll do on a day-to-day

As an Officiating Coordinator youll play a hands-on role in strengthening Queenslands community officiating network. Youll support referee associations leagues clubs and individual officials to enhance governance compliance and development practices aligned to QRLs officiating strategy.

Some of your key responsibilities include:

  • Support the establishment and maintenance of sustainable referee associations and committees across QRL regions.
  • Provide administrative governance and operational assistance to associations and committees in consideration of current Association League and Club Health data
  • Facilitate Regional Referee Assemblies and ensure clear communication and follow-up
  • Support associations to manage referee accreditations Working with Children checks and other compliance requirements
  • Work collaboratively with internal & external stakeholders to implement referee recruitment and retention campaigns ensuring alignment with QRL and national strategies
  • Develop and coordinate recognition programs for community referees
  • In collaboration with the NRL Officiating team in the development and delivery of training and mentoring programs for referee coaches
  • Work with the NRL Officiating team in the scheduling and coordination of workshops & learning opportunities aligned with National officiating accreditation framework
  • Collaborate with the NRL Officiating team and stakeholders to strengthen coaching and assessment practices
  • Provide operational support including data entry invoicing reimbursements travel logistics and record management for selected participation carnivals

What youll bring to the role:

  • 1-2 years experience working in a similar operational role
  • A tertiary qualification with an undergraduate degree in Sports Management or Sports Development is desirable.
  • Strong relationship management and stakeholder engagement skills with the ability to support and educate volunteers and match officials.
  • Excellent organisational and administrative skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and support event delivery.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and confidence in facilitating workshops or meetings.
  • NRL Referee and/or Coach Match Official accreditation.
  • A current drivers licence and a willingness to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends to support community events.
  • A current Working with Children Check (Blue Card) or eligibility to obtain one.

Role Specs

This is a permanent full-time position based in Townsville or Mackay. The salary for this position is $73510 plus superannuation. QRL remunerate based on the position requirements to ensure gender pay equity in sport. We offer 4 weeks annual leave and 1 week of refresh leave throughout the season as well as hybrid working arrangements.
