The expanding Department of Hospitality Hotel Management and Tourism at Texas A&M University College of Agriculture and Life Sciences is seeking one full-time Academic Professional Track (Non-Tenure) faculty position with a 9-month academic appointment. The anticipated start date for this opportunity is August 3 2026 with potential for multi-year renewal. Applicants will be considered for the faculty titles of Instructional Assistant Professor or Assistant Professor of the Practice depending on qualifications.
The incumbent will teach three classes in each of the Fall and Spring semesters (33) and provide service and outreach contributions to the department college university profession and/or community. The successful candidates will be able to operate effectively in an interdisciplinary program involving faculty staff graduate and undergraduate students.
Teaching is the primary responsibility of APT faculty (80% teaching 20% service). The expectations are broadly as follows:
- Develop and teach curriculum
- Serve as a role model for professionalism and team collaboration.
- Evaluate and provide constructive feedback on student performance.
- Assess student learning needs and provide mentorship/advice about professional development and career directions.
- Supervise grade submit grades and grade changes along with supervising Teaching Assistants assigned to assist.
For appointments atAssistant Professor of the Practicelevel applicants must have at the minimum a masters level degree appropriate for the field (closely related to hospitality hotel management or tourism) in which the faculty member will teach and significant teaching experience at the college/school level in the field or in a related field or have an extraordinary record of accomplishment in an applied setting. There may be additional requirements depending on the specific faculty title.
For appointments atInstructional Assistant Professorlevel applicants must have a doctoral degree in a closely related to hospitality hotel management or tourism. There may be additional requirements depending on the specific faculty title.
Forboth levels the applicant must be able to demonstrate proven communication and pedagoglical skills relating to hospitality hotel management event management and/or tourism. They should demonstrate effectiveness in both classroom and online environments.
