Job Description:

We are seeking an experienced Manager with at least 20 years of industry experience to lead a high-performing team in the development and application of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) solutions with a particular focus on Field-Programmable Gate Arrays (FPGA) and embedded software. The ideal candidate will be a seasoned leader with an extensive background in both AI/ML technologies and hardware/software integration and a proven track record of managing complex cross-functional teams in a cutting-edge technology environment.

This role offers the opportunity to influence and drive the direction of the AI/ML and FPGA development strategies for a high-growth organization at the forefront of innovation in the industry. Additionally you will be managing a geographically distributed team with members across different time zones and regions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Leadership & Team Management:
    • Lead mentor and develop a diverse globally distributed team of AI/ML engineers data scientists and embedded software engineers across multiple geographies.
    • Foster a collaborative and innovative team culture ensuring high productivity accountability and professional growth within the team despite geographical distance.
    • Define team goals performance metrics and operational strategies aligning them with organizational objectives.
    • Provide guidance on technical and career development ensuring team members have opportunities to expand their skills and expertise.
    • Oversee the challenges and dynamics of working across time zones ensuring seamless communication and coordination among geographically dispersed team members.
  • AI/ML Strategy & Execution:
    • Lead the development of cutting-edge AI/ML models and algorithms for applications involving Field-Programmable Gate Arrays (FPGA) and other hardware accelerators.
    • Drive the integration of AI/ML models with embedded systems optimizing performance on Microchip FPGA platforms.
    • Ensure that machine learning workflows are optimized for scalable deployment on hardware considering factors like latency throughput and resource constraints.
    • Develop a roadmap for AI/ML integration with Microchip FPGA technologies to enable smarter more efficient embedded systems.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration:
    • Work closely with software and hardware engineering teams to optimize AI/ML models for efficient deployment on Microchip FPGAs.
    • Interface with marketing and business stakeholders to align AI/ML strategies with overall company goals.
  • Innovation & Research:
    • Stay on top of emerging trends in AI/ML embedded systems FPGA technologies and hardware-software co-design contributing to the companys competitive advantage in the market.
    • Lead and participate in research initiatives to explore new techniques in machine learning and embedded systems design that leverage FPGAs.
    • Influence product development by proposing new architectures and design methodologies that integrate AI/ML with cutting-edge hardware platforms.
  • Project Management & Delivery:
    • Oversee the execution of Microchip VectorBlox AI/ML projects ensuring timely delivery quality standards and alignment with business requirements.
    • Manage resource allocation budgeting and scheduling of projects ensuring efficient use of resources.
    • Review project milestones risks and progress providing regular updates to senior management and key stakeholders.
    • Ensure effective communication and collaboration across different time zones keeping all team members aligned on project goals and deadlines.

Requirements/Qualifications:

  • Experience:
    • At least 20 years of experience with a deep understanding of AI/ML development embedded systems and Field-Programmable Gate Arrays (FPGAs).
    • Proven experience leading cross-functional teams that include AI/ML engineers hardware engineers and software developers especially in environments involving FPGA ASIC or similar technologies.
    • Significant experience managing remote or distributed teams across multiple geographies and time zones ensuring effective communication collaboration and project execution.
    • Strong background in programming languages such as Python C and hardware description languages (HDLs) like Verilog or VHDL.
    • Extensive experience with ML frameworks (TensorFlow PyTorch etc.) and their deployment on hardware accelerators like GPUs and FPGAs.
  • Technical Skills:
    • In-depth knowledge of AI/ML algorithms and techniques including deep learning reinforcement learning and neural networks with a focus on hardware-software co-design.
    • Hands-on experience with FPGA programming and optimization techniques for machine learning models and embedded software.
    • Expertise in system-level design and integration of AI models on embedded systems with an understanding of performance metrics such as latency throughput and power consumption.
  • Leadership & Management:
    • Exceptional leadership and team-building skills with experience managing large diverse teams and driving performance across multiple locations and time zones.
    • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to navigate complex technical challenges and deliver solutions that align with business objectives.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to articulate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
    • Strategic thinker with a track record of driving innovation setting clear goals and executing on long-term visions for AI/ML products.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree (PhD or Masters) in Computer Science Electrical Engineering or a related field.
  • Prior involvement with industry-leading AI/ML/FPGA projects or products.

We offer a total compensation package that ranks among the best in the industry.
