Wyong Christian Community School is a wonderful school with a fantastic community. Set on 28 acres in a beautiful semi-rural setting we have been building Gods Kingdom for 32 years. The Early Learning Centre will be located on the new refurbished second Campus in Wyong.
The School Counsellor plays a vital role in supporting the social emotional spiritual and psychological wellbeing of students within a Christ-centred learning community. The position provides confidential and ethical counselling promotes resilience and mental health and partners with parents staff the Wellbeing Team and external professionals to holistically support student needs. The School Counsellor contributes proactively to wellbeing initiatives crisis response and staff development while ensuring all practices meet legal ethical and compliance requirements. Through compassionate care evidence-based strategies and a commitment to Christian values the School Counsellor helps foster a safe supportive and flourishing environment for every student.
Selection Criteria
Essentials
- Qualifications in Psychology Counselling or Social Work
- Membership with at least one relevant professional association such as ACA APACS and APACS NSW or PACFA
- Commitment to maintaining a child-safe environment that aligns with the WCCS Vision and Mission statement
- Understanding of and experience in dealing with Child Protection matters including Mandatory Reporting
- Maintain clinical supervision and adherence to ethical standards
Desirables
- Previous experience in school counselling
- Previous experience in managing case load writing and reporting thoroughly and communicating with families and external services
- Strong communication and organisational skills
- Training in play therapy
