Your role and responsibilities

You will be joining the team working on building a zero-carbon council within a zero-carbon county. Travel represents a big part of the councils footprint and you will be supporting staff to find more environmentally friendly alternatives. This includes administering our existing benefits programme of public transport discounts and cycling programmes as well as working with colleagues to expand the package of benefits.

Key activities will include:

  • Administering travel discounts scheme including eligibility checks and liaising with payroll and travel operators.
  • Running the councils carshare scheme keeping up to date records and providing badges.
  • Planning and coordinating a range of activities to support sustainable travel such as communication campaigns and cycle maintenance sessions.

You will need

  • Our ideal candidate has a good level of literacy and numeracy and an eye for detail to be able to make sure all the claims are processed correctly.
  • We hope youll bring a passion for helping us to support sustainable travel and enjoy looking for creative ways to reduce peoples reliance on the car.
  • Bringing your people skills and empathy to the role will be important to making a success of the job.
  • We would like the successful candidate to develop the role to suit their skills bringing their own talents and creativity to delivering on our aims.

You will work within a team that is passionate about improving Suffolks environment. From cutting the councils energy use to protecting and enhancing nature to supporting residents and businesses to enjoy the benefits of sustainability the team works across a broad spectrum of activity.
