GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

Want to join something GREAT and make a differenceAre you interested in being on the cutting edge of Wildfire Aviation Initial Attack As a SEAT Manager you will be responsible for the daily management employment briefing and record-keeping of 2-4 Single Engine Air Tankers pilots and facilities at the direction of the State Assistant Fire Management Officer(AFMO). These assets are an essential element of the Office of State Lands and Investments Forestry Divisions Strategic Wildland Fire Aviation Initial Attack Response Plan. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: The listed functions are illustrative only and are not intended to describe every function which may be performed at the job level.

Utilize agency policies and guidance such as the NWCG Standards for Airtanker Base Operations PMS 508 in decision-making and planning.

Coordinate all tactical aircraft missions with local dispatch aerial supervision and/or the Fixed Wing Unit Manager.

Obtains daily or more frequent briefings from one or all of these positions regarding mission priorities operational and tactical briefings.

Serve as aviation liaison to airport management federal state and local officials aircraft vendors contractors and Fixed Based Operators (FBOs) etc.

Conduct daily briefings and mission briefings with the pilots other contract personnel and government employees assigned to the operation.

Document on Daily Ops leadership values and principles.

Provide a positive influence. Emphasize teamwork.

Establish and communicate objectives priorities work assignments and performance expectations.

Review the Base Operations Plan and obtain a briefing from the supervisor.

Establish agency contacts and identify the chain of command that includes the Fire Management Officer aviation manager dispatch incident contact or ASGS and procurement person.

Complete and ensure the timeliness and accuracy of the following documentation:
- AMD-23E Payment Document ( Time Report (SF-261)
- Emergency Equipment Shift Ticket (OF-297)
- Incident Performance Evaluation (ICS 225 WF)
- General Message (ICS 213)
- AVCOM / SAFECOM
- EGP FLIGHT
Agency-specific forms Apply Aviation Safety & Risk Management Systems that include Policy Risk Management Assurance and Promotion.
Attend and assist with all required meetings and trainings.
Request communications and operations support through the AFMO.

Qualifications

PREFERENCES/**AGENCY REQUIREMENTS:

**Candidates will be considered asSEAT Manager (SEMG)

Qualified Single Engine Air Tanker Manager (SEMG).
2 or more fire seasons of experience operating as a SEMG or higher.
Successfully supervised aerial wildland fire preparation and suppression efforts.
Understanding and knowledge of airspace conflicts and FFA rules.
4 or more seasons operating in the ICS system.
2 or more years of supervising in the ICS system.
Duty stations may change based on fire activity.
Requires travel for suppression preparedness firessupervision and to attend meetings or various trainings.
Frequent overnight travel is required for trainings meetings and fire assignments generally travel 10-14 days in length.
A valid unrestricted drivers license
Red Card certification as a Single Engine Air Tanker Manager (SEMG) or Single Engine Air Tanker Manager - Trainee (SEMG-T) per NWCG 310-1

KNOWLEDGE:

Single Engine Air Tanker Manager (SEMG) Trainee
Ramp Manager (RAMP)
Fixed Wing Parking Tender (FWPT)
Basic Level of Computer automation skills
1 year of supervisor experience with at least 2 personnel
2 fire seasons qualified in the Incident Command System for Wildfire operations.
Understanding and use of Interagency Aviation plans and contracts.
Knowledge of personnel management principles.
Skills in evaluating others abilities and assessing training needs.
Perform assigned duties in a manner consistent with applicable laws regulations and public records retention and requests are followed.

Necessary Special Requirements

PHYSICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:

Many of the duties performed require some physical exertion working outdoors in adverse weather conditions working long hours and extended periods of time away from home.
Duties include but may not be limited to the ability to carry up to 45 pounds run bend twist and walk.

NOTES:

FLSA: Non-Exempt
The employment period is from approximately May 2026 to October 2026 but may be extended to support the agencys mission.
This is a seasonal hourly position.
Housing is furnished at the Duncan Ranch Helibase.
Additional benefits may be available depending on the length of the season.
