Job Title: Patient Registrar Surgical Services
Location: Flushing NY 11355
Assignment Duration: 26 Weeks (Approx. 6 Months)
Schedule: Monday Friday 9:00 AM 5:00 PM (1-Hour Break)
Setting: Hospital / Surgical Department
Travel Between Departments May Be Required
Position Overview
The Patient Registrar will support the surgical services team by coordinating patient scheduling performing insurance verification and completing pre-authorization workflows. This role requires exceptional attention to detail strong customer service skills and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced clinical environment. EPIC experience is required.
Key Responsibilities
Schedule surgical procedures and appointments accurately.
Perform insurance verifications and obtain prior authorizations for imaging surgeries and medications.
Communicate with patients providers and insurance representatives to ensure care coordination.
Maintain and update patient information within the electronic medical record (EPIC).
Provide professional and courteous customer service to patients and families.
Assist with check-in/check-out processes and general front desk duties.
Ensure compliance with privacy billing and documentation accuracy standards.
Float between departments as needed to support operational needs.
Qualifications
Required:
High School Diploma or GED.
Minimum 4 years of experience in patient access scheduling registration or medical administrative support.
Experience with insurance verification and prior authorizations.
Proficiency in EPIC electronic medical records system.
Strong organizational analytical and time-management skills.
Ability to work in a fast-paced clinical environment and manage competing priorities.
