Description
The Department of Biological and Environmental Sciences at the University of Mount Union invites applications for a tenure track undergraduate position as Assistant Professor of Biology with open specialty. This position begins on August 1 2026. The successful candidate will become part of a collaborative team that includes a dedicated lab manager and ten dynamic faculty members working in state-of-the-art teaching and research laboratories as well as at the nearby Huston-Brumbaugh Nature Center - an exceptional resource for field-based learning and ecological research.
Responsibilities
- Teaching:
- Introductory courses with laboratories including biology courses.
- Upper level electives that fit or align with departmental need and align with areas of expertise.
- Opportunities also exist to teach the biology senior seminar and in the Integrative Core (general education) program.
- Develop and maintain a research program involving undergraduate students in meaningful scientific inquiry. Preference is for applicants to connect their research to the Huston-Brumbaugh Nature Center: academic advising and mentorship to students supporting their academic and career goals.
- Participate in departmental activities and contribute to the broader mission of the University through service and committee work.
Qualifications
Applicants with a Ph.D. in related fields are encouraged to apply. A strong commitment to excellence in liberal arts undergraduate education is expected.
