PROGRAM GOALS

The Public Administration Intern provides support to Village staff by assisting with administrative research and projects in areas related to local government management and community engagement. This internship offers practical experience in public sector operations and exposure to the decision-making processes that shape municipal governance.


QUALIFICATIONS

  • Current enrollment in a Bachelors program in Political Science Public Management Public Administration Public Safety Administration or a closely related field.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to conduct research and present findings clearly.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word Excel PowerPoint) and Google Workspace tools.
  • Demonstrated interest in government policy or community service.


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist with the preparation and review of reports correspondence and presentations for management and public meetings.
  • Conduct research and data analysis on topics such as public policy community development or government services.
  • Support the development and implementation of departmental projects and initiatives.
  • Observe and participate in meetings of the Village Council boards or committees.
  • Assist in drafting public communications or citizen outreach materials.
  • Provide administrative support including maintaining files tracking project progress and preparing summaries or briefings.
  • Shadow department heads to gain insight into the workings of municipal departments such as Administration and Public Safety.
  • Perform other duties as assigned in support of Village operations.

  • Develop professional skills in research analysis and interdepartmental collaboration.


WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • Professional office setting with occasional attendance at public meetings and community events
