Title:Energy Accountability Technician
Primary Functions: The Energy Accountability Technician works to establish accountability for energy consumption at every level in the District. This person is responsible for developing and monitoring the Districts energy management program under approved policy and guidelines for the purpose of reducing utility this position the technician will reduce our carbon footprint as well as show substantial savings with mechanical Electrical Plumbing.
Basic areas of responsibility include: administration and record keeping accountability reporting program implementation and validating energy management system compliance to the Districts energy policy and guidelines. Building analytical systems that will save man hours and district/community money. Managing the controls BAS system.
Qualifications:
- Three (3) years of experience within Tempe School District #3.
- Agree to a description of duties that specifies requirements for the position and aspects of the implementation plan.
- Possess strong communication skills.
- Skill in operating a computer.
- Ability to interpret technical data and demonstrate an ability to communicate with technical and non-technical individuals.
- Ability to demonstrate independent work ethic.
- Ability to exercise good judgment in implementation of policy.
- Ability to analyze and interpret technical data and communicate it to nontechnical individuals
- Ability to demonstrate a large measure of diplomacy.
- Ability to travel to more than one work location in the course of the day.
- Maintain a valid Arizona Drivers License.
Assigned Responsibilities:
- Advise assist and make recommendations to the Director of Facilities Management for Learners on alternate energy sources consumption general energy conservation measures and any safety hazards observed.
- Assist with the design and maintenance of the programming for computerized energy management systems to insure operating efficiency update programs as necessary and maintain wiring and installation diagrams of the systems.
- Ensure that the District is on a proper utility rate schedule is receiving correct billing and is participating in any rebate program offered.
- Coordinate with the Director of Facilities Management for Learners the installation and/or repairs of energy management systems.
- Establish a program to promote energy conservation at all levels of the District working with stakeholders from various departments to ensure its success.
- Work with building and maintenance personnel on proper operation of the systems and equipment.
- Develop and maintain contact with federal and state agencies and monitor state and national energy policy trends.
- Provide input on contractual support activities (capital projects) related to energy management and the purchase of any products that affect energy consumption.
- Maintain all energy and water consumption records and data. Maintain records of federal energy conservation grants received by the District.
- Conduct regular walkthrough audits of all the Districts facilities to insure operating efficiency optimum educational environment and compliance with Districts energy policy.
- Coordinate usage of facilities and ensure proper space utilization consistent with energy conservation.
- Oversee the creation and implementation of weekday weekend holiday and summer shutdown checklists for every building in the District.
- Review Energy Invoices for reasonableness and consider spikes in the utilization.
- Implement a night setback program for every building on weeknights weekends holidays and summer recess.
- Serve as District representative at management level meetings seminars and conferences relating to energy use and conservation and attend all scheduled in-services on the energy management system.
Working Conditions/Physical Requirements
- Work is performed in an office (20%) and in the field (80%)
- Commitment to irregular hours (night weekend holiday and summer audits)
- Must be able to climb bend stoop and reach
- Must be able to walk and stand for long periods
- Working in confined spaces is sometimes required
- Must be able to push pull or lift at least 25 pounds
- Must be able to read various forms of written materials and must be able to recognize different signs and symbols
