Job Summary/Description:
WLOX is looking for an experienced journalist to join our team as an Anchor/Reporter. Were looking for a newsroom leader who is energized by breaking news developing sources and cultivating community relationships in South Mississippi.
Duties/Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Anchor newscasts as assigned
- Present news in an urgent & active manner
- Conduct live interviews and anchor continuous coverage
- Help evaluate leads and tips in order to develop story ideas
- Cover news in the field as assigned
- Contribute stories to all platforms streaming website and social media
- Represent the station in the community for various promotional events
Qualifications/Requirements:
- Must be able to work quickly meet deadlines multitask and show composure especially during high-pressure breaking news situations
- Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
- This position requires exceptional news judgment a strong work ethic and a desire to work with a team
- A college degree or equivalent job experience in a journalism-related field is preferred
- MVR check required
