Job Duties:

The Assistant Vice Chancellor for Marketing and Recruitment (AVC) provides strategic direction and leadership for the universitys marketing and recruitment efforts. The AVC works with the Chancellors Cabinet the Chancellor and other university community members to improve student recruitment enrollment and the universitys reputation as a recognized public regional comprehensive institution. As the universitys top recruitment and marketing officer the AVC sets the strategic direction for the recruitment and marketing teams focusing on creating comprehensive and innovative solutions to boost student recruitment and strengthen the universitys identity brand and messaging. The AVC oversees professional and student staff in Admissions responsible for recruitment and admission counseling and Media and Marketing responsible for public and media relations social and digital media web design and development and marketing. Additionally the AVC leads cross-university collaborations that foster meaningful operational improvements in recruitment and multimedia marketing communications.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Serves as the lead brand ambassador for the University advancing the institutions identity brand awareness messaging and marketing.

  • Leads a team of Admissions Counselors and oversees hiring training and supervision. Determine Admission Counselor recruitment territories establish visit schedules and activities regularly monitor enrollment funnel performance and adjust recruitment and marketing activities as needed.

  • Oversee the creation of recruitment materials and communications including print digital video and social media content tailored for different prospective student groups (e.g. high school students transfer students adult and returning students graduate students online students international students etc.).

  • Leads a team of multimedia creative talent and oversees resources which include areas such as public and media relations social and digital media web design and development and communication and marketing.

  • Oversees university multimedia communication channels including the website paid media earned media social media and CRM platforms. Oversee the development production and distribution of university marketing and communication materials.

  • Produces and directs social/digital and new media content of all kinds-text photography and videoto enhance the Universitys social/digital media presence and demonstrably increase constituent engagement partnering as necessary with other content providers across campus. Monitors and continually expands expertise in cutting-edge social media practices and technologies. Strategically grow online communities and create and execute viral and targeted campaigns that achieve marketing and communication goals partnering with other university offices and areas as needed.

  • Enhances UW-Parksides reputation and visibility by driving earned media placements in influential media through reporter outreach pitch development and using measurement/analytics to inform future growth strategy.

  • Oversees utilization and application of multimedia and marketing tools including an AI-assisted suite for communications and brand management.

  • Develops and manages annual multimedia purchase and ad campaigns. Amplifies the Universitys impact in the marketplace through integrated marketing and cross-university media buys. Leads market research and market analysis efforts.

  • Serves as a key member of the university relations and crisis communications team and liaises with others on campus and within the Universities of Wisconsin as needed.

Key Job Responsibilities:

  • Monitors on-going assessment and continuous improvement of programs and services by guiding the establishment of annual goals ensuring progress towards goals is met articulating challenges and reporting on annual outcomes and achievements for programs and services
  • Exercises supervisory authority including hiring transferring suspending promoting managing conduct and performance discharging assigning rewarding disciplining and/or approving hours worked of at least 2.0 full-time equivalent (FTE) employees
  • Establishes priorities that align with the strategic directives of the Office of the Chancellor or Vice Chancellor ensures units effectively carry out duties in a way that best supports the strategic direction of the university. Provides direct supervision of department/division leadership staff and monitors compliance with laws regulations university policies and procedures and relevant contractual obligations
  • Supports special initiatives and/or grant-funded programs that require the Vice Chancellors attention with respect to program design planning coordination and interaction with internal and external stakeholders
  • Advises and collaborates with the Chancellor Associate Vice Chancellor and/or Vice Chancellor on critical issues representing the functional area of supervision at appropriate meetings and events as requested; and serves on and/or leads various program and/or university committees as directed
  • Facilitates collegial collaborative working relationships with a broad range of stakeholders partners with administrative and academic departments to support initiatives and gathers input from key stakeholders to support recommendations

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in communications public relations business marketing or a related field.

  • Minimum of seven years of progressive experience in sales and marketing with at least 3 years in a leadership role.

  • Experience in multimedia marketing strategy and communication.

  • Experience in persuasive multimedia advertising promotions campaigns social media targeting and market research.

  • Demonstrated ability to develop and implement innovative marketing techniques in a budget-constrained environment.

  • Proven Experience managing budgets personnel vendors and cross-functional teams.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Masters degree in a related field.

  • Experience in media buying focused on targeted ad space across different channels (TV digital radio print etc.) that ensures maximum visibility and ROI.

  • Experience leading marketing strategy and operations within post-secondary education.

  • Experience in admissions recruitment within post-secondary education.

Education:

  • Required: Bachelors Degree Communications Public relations Business Marketing or Related Field

  • Preferred: Masters Degree in a Related Field

Physical Demands

Ability to work for extended periods at a computer; requires other office demands including eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity sufficient to operate a computer keyboard telephone and other office equipment.

Working Conditions and Environment

Occasional evening and weekend commitments and overnight travel.
