The Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) provides occupational therapy services under the supervision of a licensed Occupational Therapist (OT). This position supports students across SEEM Collaborative programs as well as in member district schools helping them achieve greater independence and participation in educational activities through therapeutic interventions and accommodations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Implement occupational therapy treatment plans as developed by the supervising OT addressing fine motor sensory visual-motor and self-regulation needs.
- Provide direct and indirect services to students individually or in small groups across SEEM programs and member district schools.
- Assist with data collection documentation and progress monitoring in alignment with IEP goals and objectives.
- Collaborate with classroom staff teachers related service providers and families to support student success.
- Adapt and modify classroom materials and equipment to promote student participation and access to the curriculum.
- Maintain accurate records including daily session notes attendance and documentation required for Medicaid reimbursement.
- Participate in team meetings professional development and supervision sessions with the OT.
- Support implementation of sensory and motor strategies within classroom routines and environments.
- Travel between multiple school sites as needed within the Collaborative and its member districts.
- Assist in SEEM programs as caseload allows.
- All other duties as assigned by the Supervisor or Executive Director.
Qualifications:
- Associates Degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited program.
- Current certification by the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT).
- Current Massachusetts Licensure as a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant.
- Experience working with children and adolescents in school-based or pediatric settings preferred.
- Strong organizational communication and collaboration skills.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team across multiple school settings.
*Valid drivers license and reliable transportation required.
