Job Summary
The job of Education Assistant - Crossing Guard is done for the purpose of improving students success in the basic academics; relieving teachers of clerical tasks; monitoring students in a variety of settings; and performing crossing guard duties before and after school.
Essential Functions:
Administers tests
- Implements instructional programs and lesson plans (e.g. reading math language comprehension writing computer etc.)
- Instructs students (individual or small groups) (e.g. reading math spelling self esteem behavioral skills daily living skills etc.)
- Maintains classroom equipment work area students files/records (e.g. clean up after various class projects entering grades adapting instructional materials audiovisual equipment etc.)
- Monitors students during assigned periods within a variety of school environments (e.g. classrooms rest rooms hallways cafeteria labs field trips etc.)
- Participates in in-service workshops and training
- Performs duties of Crossing Guard as assigned
- Performs record keeping and clerical functions (e.g. scheduling copying instructional materials correcting papers compiling lists etc.)
- Picks up and or delivers homework/assignments to students at home
- Responds to emergency situations (e.g. injured student fights etc.)
- Assists other personnel as may be required
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Pre-employment proficiency test
- Criminal Justice/fingerprint clearance
Full Time with Benefits School Year Schedule Experience desired.
This is a 10 month School Year position only.
