Job Summary
Year 1 Teacher - Richmond Independent School starting January 2026.
In the first week of January 2026 the Year 1 Teacher meets families establishes routines and launches a phonics refresh. Mid-January 2026 the Year 1 Teacher models writing through shared composition and builds number fluency with practical maths. By late January 2026 the Year 1 Teacher has set up guided reading playful inquiry and targeted intervention all within the rich resources of an Independent School that prizes curiosity.
Daily the Year 1 Teacher blends direct instruction with purposeful assemblies the Year 1 Teacher celebrates effort; in tutoring slots the Year 1 Teacher narrows gaps. The Independent School timetable frees the Year 1 Teacher to focus on core learning while specialists extend the wider curriculum. Through January 2026 and into spring 2026 coaching and partnering with colleagues sharpen the Year 1 Teacher craft.
Year 1 Teacher Requirements
- QTS/PGCE or equivalent as Year 1 Teacher.
- Proven KS1 practice and assessment literacy as Year 1 Teacher.
- Availability for planning prior to January 2026 induction in January 2026 and full teaching from January 2026.
- Alignment with Independent School values.
Year 1 Teacher Responsibilities
- Deliver systematic phonics and mastery maths as Year 1 Teacher.
- Track progress and adapt instruction as Year 1 Teacher.
- Lead parent partnership and enrichment as Year 1 Teacher.
- Contribute to moderation and curriculum projects beyond January 2026.
