Our nearly 300 dedicated team members help achieve our mission of improving the community by providing employment education training and support services tailored to individual needs across a six county territory. Goodwill SWMI manages ten retail stores (with attached attended donation centers and one stand-alone donation center) Contract Manufacturing Operations as well as Custodial & Janitorial business units. These business operations provide stability to our organization that is not always enjoyed by nonprofit organizations solely funded by outside sources.

JOB DESCRIPTION
General Responsibilities
Help individuals & families achieve their financial goals using a coaching model. The ideal candidate is passionate about helping individuals & families increase their financial capability through the coaching relationship. This includes helping families identify their strengths & resources create a realistic spending plan/budget review credit reports/build credit/assist with disputing inaccuracies and help participants build financial awareness and knowledge for both the short and long term (including later life planning). The coordinator helps participants identify financially related behaviors they would like to change and consider behavior changes that could help move them closer to achieving the goals they set for themselves. The coaching model is not advice driven nor prescriptive; it is participant centered with the participant deciding what their best path forward is. The coordinator works with each individual/family to identify paths to stated goals and increase awareness of helpful tools/resources that can inform choices along that path.
Essential Duties Responsibilities and Functions
  • Provide financial coaching to individuals & families; provide coaching via one on one meetings in person over the phone through email and using virtual tools like Google Meet. Facilitate group-coaching meetings/classes for special topics/groups.
  • Build and maintain an updated awareness and understanding of both digital and paper based resources for managing and monitoring money credit debt and other financial wellness variables. Help participants learn how to best use tools that work for them to improve their financial situation.
  • Actively participate in community meetings to facilitate new referrals and build community connections; includes working with KNHS Homeownership Services coaching team.
  • Work with internal & external programs & partners to connect participants with financial coaching services
  • Work as an integral member of our Financial Opportunity Center (FOC) team integrating financial coaching with employment and income supports coaching to help individuals & families realize their goals
  • Gather participant information and enter into databases and spreadsheets as required including into our Efforts to Outcomes (ETO) database
  • Work to continuously improve our financial coaching program; keep the Financial Coaching Playbook up to date.
  • Other duties as assigned
Required Knowledge Skills and Abilities
  • Strong demonstrated financial knowledge including budgets savings debt remediation asset acquisition and/or credit building
  • Data entry abilities; above average record keeping abilities
  • Advanced knowledge of MS Office programs including Excel & PowerPoint
  • Ability to effectively & professionally collaborate and communicate with others
  • Ability to make sound independent judgments and assessments; ability to work independently
  • Awareness and knowledge of financially focused websites and mobile applications
Preferred Knowledge Skills and Abilities
  • 2-5 years of experience in financial education counseling or coaching
  • Coaching model exposure/training (i.e. Family Centered Coaching)
  • Experience with motivational interviewing
  • Familiarity with Bridges out of Poverty/Ruby Paynes frameworks
Education
Bachelors degree in social work or finance related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience
Physical Requirements
  • Frequent travel using personal vehicle in a variety of weather and traffic situations
  • Regular in person and virtual presentations in front of individuals & groups in a variety of locations & settings
  • Sedentary work in an office setting
Other
  • Must possess valid vehicle operator license & have access to reliable transportation
  • Must pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check related to safety and child/family welfare
  • Must be insurable under the agencys automobile insurance policy
  • Upon hire must provide an official transcript confirming degree and coursework
