- Assist HVAC Mechanics in all work in the trade and learn the work through classroom instruction and on-the-job training.
- Initially perform other tasks incidental to mastery of the trade and fundamentals.
- Set up and cleanup of job site.
- Pick up supplies.
- Follow directions of licensed Trade workers while performing all duties.
- Participate in 150 hours each year for 5 years of off-site classroom instruction identified and coordinated by the University.
- Participation in this training is scheduled outside of the regular work schedule.
Required Skills
MIMINIUM REQUIREMENTS:
- Must have completed two years of employment at Boston University.
- High School Diploma or G.E.D. equivalent.
- Demonstrated mathematical ability.
- Ability to read write and understand English.
- Knowledge of basic safety procedures.
- Ability to lift 50 pounds climb and work from ladders and aerial lifts with no height limitations.
- Ability to distinguish between colors.
- Valid drivers license and the use of an automobile.
- Upon completion of the programwill be able to perform all the duties of a Licensed HVAC Mechanic.
- Experience in the trade.
- Ability toidentify various tools and describe trades specific materials and tools.
- Previous classroom instruction in the trade.
- Trade school education in any trade.
