  • Employment Term: Maximum Term to 30 June 2026 Part-Time (45.6 hours per fortnight 3 days per week)

Your part in our UnitingCare team

Our Men Choosing Change Counsellor & Group Facilitators play a pivotal role within the MCC Program operating within a multi-disciplinary team. The primary focus of this role is to facilitate behaviour change programs and undertake assessments counselling referrals and case reviews for a range of clients including facilitating group programs for men who are referred due to their use of violence and abuse within their intimate relationships.

The position requires:

  • A deep understanding of the dynamics of domestic violence and counselling practices

  • A high degree of experience in client work

  • Professional epistemological (framework) awareness

  • Creating a safe and supportive environment where clients can explore the underlying causes of their behaviour understand the impact of their actions and develop healthier ways of relating to others

  • Travel and court support

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Facilitate behaviour change programs for men who perpetrate domestic violence promoting accountability and positive change

  • Provide individual intake/review and group sessions to clients utilising evidence-based practices

  • Implement safety planning for clients and their families ensuring a focus on risk management and the cessation of violence

  • Networking with the police and criminal justice sector and other agencies and services who work in the field of domestic and family violence.

What makes a difference for us

  • A minimum of a bachelors degree in a Human Services related field including Social SciencePsychology Social Work or Counselling.

  • Demonstrated experience in domestic and family violence with a strong understanding of the dynamics and impacts.

  • Proven fundamentals in counselling practice with a high degree of experience in client work.

  • Epistemological awareness and ability to work within individual frameworks.

  • Expertise in safety planning and risk assessment.

  • Excellent communication interpersonal and facilitation skills.

  • Ability to work effectively within a multi-disciplinary team.

  • Commitment to ongoing professional development and reflective practice

  • A current drivers license

  • Working with Children check (Blue card)
