Position Summary
The Project Manager Heavy Civil / Transportation is responsible for providing overall direction and leadership for construction projects ensuring successful completion within scope schedule and budget.
The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience managing projects for public agencies (>$5M) and/or private land development work involving mass grading utilities and road construction.
Key Responsibilities
Review project proposals to determine scope budget staffing schedule and resource requirements.
Develop and implement work plans assigning responsibilities and authority to project staff.
Oversee subcontract awards purchase orders and change order negotiations.
Arrange and track permits drawings and submittals as required.
Provide technical guidance and resolve issues in coordination with project personnel.
Prepare and present project progress reports for management and clients.
Monitor and maintain job cost data performing regular financial reviews with project teams.
Ensure all work adheres to company standards safety regulations and quality specifications.
Lead project closeout activities including final quantities change orders releases and acceptance documentation.
Foster a positive and productive relationship with clients engineers and stakeholders.
Qualifications & Skills
Proven leadership ability with strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
Knowledge of construction methods production processes and resource coordination.
Ability to produce high-quality results with accuracy and attention to detail.
Strategic decision-maker who can assess risks and act with sound judgment.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Willingness to travel as needed.
Valid Drivers License with a clean driving record.
Education & Experience
Bachelors Degree in Construction Management Civil Engineering or related field required.
Minimum 10 years of project management experience in heavy civil transportation or land development projects.
Equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered.
