Job Summary

  • Completion of a four (4) year degree in a related field such as Engineering Economics Business or Project Management and
  • Minimum of six (6) years directly related experience in project management for infrastructure planning design construction or an area of specialization.

Assets:

  • PMP or PRINCE2 certification
  • Change Management certification
  • Business Analyst certification

Skills required for success:

  • Proven ability to manage complex projects including defining scope monitoring performance identifying and mitigating risks ensuring successful outcomes and allocating resources effectively. This includes developing and managing budgets and schedules
  • Expertise in cultivating productive relationships with multiple internal and external stakeholders ensuring accurate and timely communications and possessing highly proficient written and verbal communication skills
  • Highly developed skills in resolving conflicts and negotiating effectively
  • Ability to set clear objectives for procurement processes efficiently complete RFP steps and demonstrate flexibility and adaptability to evolving priorities
  • Familiarity with Google Workspace
  • Alignment to our Cultural Commitments and Leadership Competencies ( may be tested

Conditions of employment:

Hours of Work: 33.75 hour work week

The weekly hours of work for this position are currently under review and may change at a future time. Any changes will be made in accordance with the City of Edmonton/Civic Service Union 52 collective agreement and the incumbent will be notified in advance.

This position may be eligible for a hybrid work arrangement with the flexibility to work from both home and the worksite as per the Letter of Understanding between the City of Edmonton and Civic Service Union 52.

Salary: $52.578 - $67.097 (Hourly); $92629.290 - $118208.140 (Annually)

The City of Edmonton is seeking an experienced strategy-focused Project Manager to lead the development of new intermunicipal plans and agreements with its municipal neighbors. Reporting to the Senior Regional Planner the Project Manager will be a key member of a team responsible for developing Intermunicipal Development Plans (IDP) and Intermunicipal Collaboration Frameworks (ICF) between Edmonton and its eight bordering municipalities.

This role requires expertise in managing project scope timeline budget and quality along with strong capabilities in influence collaboration communication issue mediation and problem-solving. The successful candidate will support the Senior Regional Planner in fostering effective intermunicipal cooperation and collaboration amongst City staff for this complex and high-profile initiative.

What you will do:

Manage the planning and delivery of Intermunicipal Development Plans and Intermunicipal Collaboration Frameworks:

  • Prepare and maintain essential project management documents
  • Develop and implement project governance structures
  • Manage meeting logistics and subject matter expert participation
  • Ensure strategic alignment of project deliverables and proactively address intermunicipal dynamics
  • Oversee the procurement process including RFPs contract management and vendor performance as needed
  • Monitor and manage project delivery focusing on scope schedule budget and quality
  • Ensure adherence to corporate project management best practices and mentor team members

Support the Project Lead to manage internal and external communications and relationships:

  • Develop relationships with internal and external subject matter experts
  • Participate in the development and implementation of public/partner engagement processes and activities with communication advisors
  • Craft and deploy strategic communication plans in partnership with communication advisors
  • Oversee all project communications

Administration:

  • Prepare and present clear project status reports for various partners and support creation of City Council reports
  • Lead project closure activities including final sign-offs post-project evaluations and capturing lessons learned
