The professional in this position is responsible for creating a flexible program and learning environment that provides specialized instruction forward students with disabilities such that the students have opportunities to access the general education curriculum to the greatest extent possible when supported with supplemental aids accommodations an program modifications CERTIFICATE / LICENSE REQUIRED: Island Department of Education (RIDE) certification middle grades special Qualified (when applicable) ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES: to the policies and related directives of the Portsmouth School opportunities for the integration of the curriculum of other the attainment of the Districts Mission Vision and Strategic strong and deep knowledge of the philosophical foundations and content of the current research-based best instructional practices and strategies to deliver specialized to special education policies completes relevant paperwork presents assessment data and attends and actively contributes to special education and prepares lessons to optimize student deep understanding of content by addressing unique learning styles adapting instruction to meet the needs of all students engaging students in rigorous learning experiences using effective questioning techniques and relating instruction to the students life and to prior and future and implements Individual Educational Plans to meet the unique needs of students with disabilities and completes IEP progress reporting in a timely strong student effort and excellent student work student learning through the use of various collaborative grouping structures that are appropriate to the instructional students to regularly engage in high-level activities including but not limited to application and analysis of and interprets various types of accurate student records as a result of the monitoring of regular formative and summative assessment of curriculum attainment; adjusts instruction for individuals and groups of regularly with students and parents regarding student academic behavioral and social emotional functioning; communicates immediately with both when there are student voice in establishing and enforcing effective and positive classroom rules and procedures designed to ensure safety and enhance all facets of the instructional delivery system so that all equipment and instructional tools are ready for use and ensures smooth transitions maximizes time on task and guarantees the efficient distribution of knowledge of federal and state special education laws governing children with technology to more effectively deliver the curriculum and specially designed high and clear students in monitoring their own progress and ownership of to collaborative planning and collaborates regularly and professionally with colleagues students and parents regarding student academic behavioral and social emotional responsibility for personal professional in school events and in school and/or professional and assists with the evaluation of duties as assigned by the building principal or directorOther Specialized Skills that may be required: or willing to be certified in Safety in the use of progress monitoring tools to track students progress and to guide instruction and with and ability to use a variety of adaptive ability and success in working collaboratively with large educational teamsPHYSICAL DEMANDS:1. Communicate and detect information at levels to be able to make presentations and exchange information in person and on the telephone 2. Express oneself so others will be able to clearly understand 3. Constantly operate a computer keyboard and manipulate paper 4. Detect determine perceive and identify documentation and reports and to observe students 5. Able to meet multiple demands from several people and meet deadlines with severe time constraints 6. Must be able to remain in a stationary position for extended periods of time in both indoor and outdoor environments and possible move and traverse in order to maintain a safe learning environment 7. Stamina to work irregular or extended hours to include a full day and then attending meetings or supervising evening events 8. Work at a desk conference table small student classroom table or in meetings in various configurations 9.
