Position:Commercial Account Director GTA

Compensation Details:

  • Business Development 19: Salaries typically range from $109810 to $150000 annually based on qualifications and experiences plus a performance-based incentive.

Location:

  • Export Development Canada operates in a hybrid work environment currently requiring employees to work in the office2days per week.(subject to change)

  • This role can be performed from EDCs Community Hub located inToronto.

  • Relocation assistance is available for candidates who meet the eligibility criteria.

Team Overview:

  • The Mid-Market Team is looking for a Commercial Account Director to join our growing team of professionals in the GTA Region. Reporting to the Regional Director you will contribute to the execution of EDCs 2030 corporate plan. Our goal is to help entrepreneurs grow their exports and energize the Canadian economy. You will be responsible for prospecting growing maintaining and managing a portfolio of medium-sized clients and prospects.

What you will be doing:

  • Identify and qualify potential customers promoting the full value proposition available to Ontario exporters.

  • Assess export financing risk management or other needs and match solutions to these needs.

  • Manage an assigned portfolio of accounts developing territory strategies and account plans.

  • Facilitate transactions and manage the progression of designated portfolio pipelines.

  • Execute projects initiatives and tasks related to market coverage mandates.

  • Develop strategies and plans to ensure full market coverage integrated with sector and country strategies.

  • Serve as the knowledge base and problem solver for prospects/clients handling negotiations and interactions positively and professionally.

Discipline summary:

  • Create business development opportunities in Canada and abroad with mid-sized and large enterprises across various industry sectors.

  • Plan and manage time effectively while locating evaluating and recruiting potential customers and qualified leads.

  • Gather and share market intelligence across sectors to develop new opportunities and services/products customized to clients needs.

  • Promote and sell a suite of products services and solutions to current and new customers closing new business development opportunities.

  • Introduce and leverage external business partners and contacts to complement EDCs total solutions offering.

  • Maintain a high level of client satisfaction.

  • Build and maintain effective long-term relationships within a geographic and/or industry focus.

What we are looking for:

  • Undergraduate Degree in Business Administration Finance Commerce or other relevant discipline.

  • Minimum of 7 years of business development experience and commercial credit lending experience in international business and/or financial services.

  • Experience in Syndications Bilateral and M&A transactions.

  • Experience in financing and managing transactions up and down the capital stack.

  • Knowledge of best practices in strategic sales and/or account management.

  • An established network in the GTA region relevant to EDCs mandate.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.

  • A valid drivers license and access to a vehicle.

What will make you stand out:

  • Bilingualism (English and French).

  • Business development experience in commercial banking.

  • Sales management experience in related industries.

  • Knowledge of bank credit and lending practices.

  • Knowledge of international business practices and international trade.

  • MBA CITP (Certified International Trade Professional) or CBCA (Commercial Banking & Credit Analyst) designation.

  • Knowledge of private equity-backed company growth strategies and analysis.
