The position is to advance long baseline and atmospheric neutrino oscillation research on Hyper-Kamiokande (Hyper-K) experiment. The incumbent is expected to take the leading role in one or more of the areas of TRIUMF group involvement including: the construction assembly commissioning and calibration of the Intermediate Water Cherenkov Detector (IWCD) and Hyper-K LED mPMT; the data analysis of the Water Cherenkov Test Experiment (WCTE).
The position is expected to apply for the JSPS fellowship and stay in Japan for two years during the construction and commissioning period.

The position has no formal supervisory responsibilities but co-supervise graduate students and undergraduate students on topic-by-topic basis.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND YEARS OF EXPERIENCE:
A PhD in particle or nuclear physics received within 5 years.
