St Monicas College Cairns

The College is situated in the central business district of Cairns one block from the Cairns Esplanade. St Monicas is the oldest school in the region with rich heritage and Mercy traditions. About the Role

The college is currently accepting applications for a Middle Leader - Health and Physical Education on a full-time fixed-term contract.

The role of Middle Leader is to support the mission of the College through leadership founded on a commitment to the provision of quality education for the students. This involves:

• Developing appropriate curriculum in line with national state and local requirements
• Ensuring that appropriate pedagogies are developed and implemented at all levels
• Ensuring the quality of student learning and the effectiveness of teacher practice through appropriate supervision
• Utilising thorough analysis of current data to inform decision
• Developing appropriate partnerships within and outside of the college
• Prudently administering available resources
• Is line managed by the Assistant Principal Curriculum

As a Teacher you will:

• Plan prepare and deliver effective learning and teaching programs
• Contribute to the development and implementation of the school objectives and school planning
• Contribute to the establishment and maintenance of a supportive school environment

Teachers are accountable to and under the direction of the school Principal or delegate.

Mandatory Qualifications and Requirements

• Professional qualifications in Education
• Registered or eligible to register with Queensland College of Teachers
• Leadership Experience:
  • Demonstrated ability in educational leadership
  • Demonstrated administrative ability
  • Demonstrated skills in interpersonal relationships
• Willingness to achieve Accreditation to Teach in a Catholic School and Accreditation to Teach Religion in a Catholic School (Teachers of Religious Education)
• Willingness to support and participate in the prayer liturgy and sacramental life of the Church in the school community
• Promote child safety at all times
• Capacity to understand and implement Duty of Care and Workplace Health and Safety requirements.
• Current drivers licence
• A strong demonstrated commitment to the objectives vision and ethos of Catholic Education
• An understanding and commitment to education in the Catholic tradition
• Skills for building community including facilitation delegation and consultation
