About the Role: The Senior Advisor for Community Activation will serve as the agencys lead strategist for field safety planning trauma-informed practice and staff preparedness. This role is responsible for developing safety protocols training frameworks and response plans to ensure that all MOCJ field teams can operate safely effectively and with emotional resilience. This role requires deep expertise in community-based safety strategies crisis response and cross-sector collaboration. Reporting to the Deputy Director for Strategic Initiatives the Senior Advisor will support multidisciplinary teams in implementing initiatives that bridge community activations and public safety goals.
Key Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
-Design implementation and periodic updating of a comprehensive Field Safety Manual for all MOCJ staff working in community or justice-related field settings.
-Establish clear safety protocols and procedures for staff conducting site visits community outreach and interventions in high-stress or high-risk environments including pre-field briefings situational assessments and post-field debriefs.
-Collaborate with City agencies including NYPD DSS DYCD DOHMH and others to align community activation strategies with broader public safety and social service objectives.
-Integrate trauma-informed principles into all staff training ensuring employees understand the impact of exposure to violence crisis or community trauma and have tools to manage and de-escalate tense situations.
-Lead the development of an Incident Response and Support Plan including real-time communication procedures and post-incident support structures (e.g. counseling peer support recovery time).
-Design and deliver training sessions and toolkits on field safety crisis navigation de-escalation and self-care for employees.
-Work collaboratively with law enforcement public health and social service agencies to align safety practices share information and ensure coordinated responses in the field.
-Launch a Wellness & Resilience Program that provides preventative care ongoing check-ins and resource access for staff engaged in challenging field environments.
-Supporting at site visits and community events

Qualifications :
1. Do you have a baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university
2. Do you have an associate degree from an accredited college or university along with two (2) years of experience with administrative analytic coordinative supervisory or liaison responsibilities
3. Do you have a four-year high school diploma or its educational equivalent approved by a states Department of Education or a recognized accrediting organization along with four (4) years of experience as described in question 2 above
4. Do you have a satisfactory combination of education and/or experience equivalent to that described in questions 1 2 and/or 3 above
