What You Get To Do:
A Direct Support Professional (DSP) caregiver provides direct support positive direction instruction and assistance to individuals with mental intellectual & developmental and physical disabilities. The ultimate goal is to empower individuals with disabilities to live as independently and comfortably as possible while maintaining their dignity and respect.
- Provide hands-on assistance encouragement mentoring and guidance.
- Coordinate services for the individuals served including finance medical recreation program services family contact/involvement education and household management.
- Ensure the comfort safety and personal growth of the individuals we serve.
- Assist with daily living tasks such as moving around getting in and out of bed dressing bathing personal hygiene and more.
- Perform housekeeping and laundry duties including cleaning organizing maintaining a safe and tidy living environment and washing drying folding and putting away clothes and linens.
- Build relationships with persons served and teammates.
- Attend special community occasions and fun activities like outdoor walks games and social events.
- Transport persons served to appointments or other activities outside the home.
- Empower people with disabilities to live life to the fullest.
- Document progress milestones and action steps.
