Reporting to the Transport Depot Manager the Transport Operations Manager you will manage the resource pool of drivers and vehicles assigned to the individuals.
Working hours: Monday to Friday 08.00-18.00
Key Duties of a Transport Operations Manager:
- Maintaining TRANSFORM database and follow up all defects with the fleet department.
- Ensuring that daily risk assessments of the yard and office are completed.
- Enforcing WTD regulations amongst all staff particularly drivers addressing all non-conformance.
- Managing all elements of Tachograph compliance (including collections and dealing with infringements). Include a reference to using Tachograph Analysis software for reports.
- Overseeing the logging and action planning of all VOSA stops.
- Reporting all CPC non-compliance to the Regional Operations Manager.

- Overseeing the management of absence and holidays for all drivers depot staff and yard staff.
- Plan and manage depot payroll (including the projection of weekly manning levels booking agency drivers authorising overtime enabling pay queries and ensuring that depot logs are completed on GTS).
- Managing the recruitment (including uniforms and GTS / ISOTRAK set up) disciplinary grievance and exit interview process for all drivers and depot staff.
- Ensuring that all personnel files are up to date incorporating licence validation personal details completed training etc.
- Validating and authorise all weekly expense claims made by drivers or depot staff.
- Ensuring that all training needs are met for drivers and depot staff (including inductions re-training SSW and annual appraisals).
- Controlling the flow of communication at the site (including monthly drivers rep meetings updating the intranet / notice boards).
- Co-ordinating the vehicle and trailer maintenance programme (including servicing MOTs VOR weekly cab checks and maintaining all records).
- Managing the company process following accidents and incidents (including the completion of relevant paperwork particularly RIDDOR).
- Managing the maintenance and repair of the site (including vehicle wash and office).
- Ensuring all depot daily checks are completed and recorded on the central system (including trailers returns re-books and pallets).
- Maintaining a high level of depot cleanliness ensuring all vehicles and trailers are parked correctly.
Qualifications :
- Previous Transport Operations experience within a FMCG environment.
- CPC National Qualification.
- Previous experience of managing a large team.
- Working knowledge of EU Drivers Hours and WTD Legislation
- Working knowledge of Tachograph legislation.
- Fleet compliance.
- Understanding of TMS systems.
- Ability to work within a fast paced environment with tight deadlines.
- Able to work well under pressure.
- IT Literate including Microsoft word excel and outlook.
