Reporting to the Development Partnership Manager this position provides support through policy development planning and collaboration with other groups and individuals on a variety of projects and initiatives. This position is a pivotal part of the Trondëk Hwëchin communitys journey toward a sustainable energy future requiring collaboration research and strategic planning to help the community embrace renewable energy and energy efficiency. The Trondëk Hwëchin Energy Initiative is a vital project aimed at shaping the communitys energy future through sustainable practices and renewable solutions. The Economic Development and Project Officer plays a key role in supporting the creation of the communitys Energy Strategy working alongside community members and stakeholders to explore energy needs opportunities for energy efficiency and sustainable energy technologies. Responsibilities will include organizing events like energy symposiums conducting research on emerging energy technologies data collection for Dawson City and TH traditional territory and fostering partnerships with local provincial and national organizations.
The incumbent fosters community engagement and promotes energy literacy helping to create a deeper understanding of how renewable energy can benefit the Trondëk Hwëchin community. The incumbent manages the progress of the Energy Initiative ensuring that projects stay on track and align with the communitys goals while also seeking out funding opportunities and supporting grant applications to bring the vision to life.
An Eligibility List may be established from this competition the duration of the eligibility list may be up to 12 months. The eligibility list may be used to fill future permanent full-time permanent part-time temporary full-time temporary part-time term or auxiliary on-call vacancies within the same department and classification based on the organizational needs by going the next highest ranked candidate until the eligibility list expires.

Essential Qualifications:
- Post-secondary degree or diploma in Economic Development Business or Public Administration Indigenous Governance or related discipline. An equivalent combination of education knowledge and demonstrated skills and experience may be considered.
- Experience in carrying out research and analysis and knowledge of research tools and methods.
- Experience drafting research summaries proposals or other written communications and correspondence.
- Experience working within a First Nation Government and/or an Indigenous organization.
- Experience establishing and maintaining partnerships with multiple organizations stakeholders departments and other levels of governments.
- Proficient computer skills and records management typically in an office setting (i.e. Microsoft Office) including word processing spreadsheets email and using Internet search engines.
- Ability to analyze community knowledge data and input and utilize it to inform and guide project activities.
- Ability to manage project financials including budgets and reporting.
