National Gypsum Services Company has an immediate opening for a Senior Purchasing Manager at our Charlotte NC location. This position will report to the Director of Procurement and Supplier Management.
Job Summary:
The Senior Purchasing Manager will be the leader in the operational purchasing of the centralized team and responsible for executing supply chain strategies set forth by the Category Managers to provide the most cost-effective & reliable procurement of centralized commodities. This position will be expected to work as part of the centralized purchasing team and be responsible for key commodities that represent our most critical volumes & spend - building positive operational relationships with those key suppliers and our internal customers. Individual will be an advocate of continuous improvement and will be well-versed in utilizing the supply base to meet corporate financial and operational goals.
Job Responsibilities (not all inclusive):
- Strategic Procurement:
- Execute purchasing strategies aligned with organizational goals.
- Optimize purchasing processes across various spend categories.
- Monitor orders while ensuring our plants/warehouses have sufficient Days on Hand inventory levels to support operations
- Vendor Management:
- Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers.
- Budget Adherence:
- Track purchasing spend within budget forecasts (cost & quantities).
- Monitor expenses inventory levels and track key metrics.
- Risk Mitigation:
- Identify and assist in mitigation of risks related to supplier reliability quality and financial stability with the Category Managers.
- Assist Category Managers with contingency plans to ensure business continuity.
- Market Analysis:
- Analyze market trends demand forecasts and stay informed about industry developments.
- Make data-driven decisions to optimize purchasing activities.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration:
- Collaborate with Category Managers finance operations and other departments.
- Ensure seamless integration of procurement processes.
- Automate replenishment processes with higher volume materials establishing consistent delivery cycles.
- Work with Category Managers and plants to resolve any supplier performance issues (quality and pickup/delivery levels of service). Establish Supplier scorecards & conduct regular Supplier Business Reviews with internal stakeholders providing additional support.
- Partner with the Category Managers and Logistics team to maintain cost effective and efficient movement of raw materials.
- Lead a team of Buyers (Corporate) and partner with plant-level buyers to improve processes.
- Work alongside manufacturing and oversea plant-level purchasing activities to ensure compliance to strategic goals and inventory requirements.

QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelors degree in business administration or equivalent education/work experience; MBA or related advanced degree a plus
- Minimum 10 years of procurement or supply chain experience (preferably within manufacturing industries)
- Minimum 5 years of experience in negotiations including RFI RFP RFQ and contract development
- Certified Professional in Supply Management (CPSM) or similar qualification a plus
- Strong Negotiating Benchmarking Market Analysis Competitive Intelligence and Procurement Projects Management skills
- Strong interpersonal skills: ability to communicate and engage at all organizational levels ability to cultivate and sustain high quality professional relationships
- Ability to work individually or as part of a team environment
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office and ERP systems in a global environment is required; preferably with SAP
- In-depth knowledge of supply markets and project management skills to oversee the procurement process from start to finish.
- Supervisory experience preferred.
- A willingness to travel domestically as much as 20% of the time
- Eligible for hybrid work (the hybrid work schedule is provisional and may be modified based on business needs)
Competitive Salary with a general salary range of $130968 to $174624 or higher depending on education and experience.
