Project Engineer I/II
OVERVIEW
Marathon Petroleum Companys Illinois Refining Division in Robinson IL isseekinga highly motivated and collaborative engineer to join the Area Engineering Team as a Project Engineer I/II. This positionis responsible forproviding comprehensive mechanical engineering support for daily refinery operations and for leading the development and implementation of a portfolio of small-scale projects. These projects typically focus on upgrades or modifications essential formaintainingandoptimizingexisting process units. The Project Engineer I/II reports to the Area Engineering Manager.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Applies project management skills across all phases:development justification design construction andstartup. Supports project documentation data gathering andcoordination tasks under supervision.
Assistswith cost estimates schedules and DSPpreparation.
Participatesin Management of Change (MOC) Process
Safety Information (PSI) and mechanical integritydocumentation reviews andlearnsrequirements.
Coordinates with external engineering consultants anddesigners to complete projects and studiescost-effectively.
Develops scope cost estimates and schedules for capitaland expense projects; prepares Decision SupportPackages (DSPs) andpresents toleadership.
Collaborates with stakeholders including MaintenanceConstructionand Turnaround teams to support planningand execution.
ObservesHAZOP reviews and incident investigations
Learnsengineering codes and specifications; ensuresdesignsmeet safety environmental andpermittingstandards.
Promotes safety awareness and takes corrective actionwhenunsafe practices or conditions areobserved.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
B.S. inEngineeringrequired. Electrical Civil Mechanical Chemical Engineering degree preferred
Zero (0) years or more of industry experiencerequired
Valid drivers licenserequired
Must be legally authorized to work in the US on a full-time indefinite basis without the need for employment visa sponsorship now or in the future
PREFERREDQUALIFICATIONS:
Petrochemical industry experience
Demonstratedexpertisewith refinery equipment (pumps heat exchangers heaters vessels pipingetc).
Knowledge of refinery industry codes (ASME ANSI APIetc).
SKILLS
Excellent communication time management organizational and interpersonal skills
Proficient inMicrosoftOffice (Word Excel Power Pointetc) and ability to easilylearnother computer systems.
Excellentcritical thinking andproblem-solvingskills.
Ability to work in a team environmentand effectively manage competing priorities.
PAY ANDBENEFITS
This position belongs to a family of jobs with increasing responsibilitycompetencyand actualposition title and pay grade will be based on the selected candidates experience and qualifications.

SCHEDULEREQUIREMENTS
This position offers a work schedule of 5/8s(5 days a week 8 hours a day M-F option of 4 days in office with one day remote) 9/80s(9 hours a day M-Th Fridays 8 hours with every other Friday off).
